New eTool for Businesses to Check if Allowed to Operate

The State released an online tool today for businesses to check whether they can open, and to see what safety guidelines apply to their operations. In short, nothing has changed for dealers statewide. Dealers can remain open and need to continue sales either remotely or by appointment only.

However, there has been some misinformation as to whether dealers need to affirm that they have read and understood safety guidelines that the State issued last week. To be clear, there is no requirement for new car dealers to do so as our businesses have already been designated as essential businesses and guidelines and safety protocols have already been issued.

The new tool can be accessed at the following link (simply select the county you wish to check on and then the industry’s NAICS code): https://www.businessexpress.ny.gov/app/nyforward.

  • NAICS Code: 441110

  • Industry: New Car Dealers

When dealers’ obligations change, according to this website, we will let you know right away.  GNYADA will be reissuing a Dealer Best Practices for dealing with workplace safety measures that we recommend you follow.

In order to operate, you must comply with all safety guidelines for our industry, as well as any additional health and safety guidance issued by the State.
